Mission Statement

The Hanover Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association shall exist to advance the partnership between the Community and the Police Department.

The HCPAA was organized by a group of alumni of the Hanover Citizen's Police Academy. Members of the Alumni Association are drawn to the organization for a variety of reasons including the desire to support the Police Department, give something back to the community and to learn about a wide range of topics presented at monthly meetings.

The HCPAA continues to identify ways to contribute to the HPD and the Town of Hanover. Our support includes the time and talent of our members as well as monetary assistance. Membership is open to any graduate of the Hanover Citizen's Police Academy. If you would like further information or would like to support our activities through a contribution, please email us at HCPAA@comcast.net.

Summary

The Hanover Police Department provides a unique opportunity for residents to gain a better understanding of the role of our police officers and the operation of the police department.

The Citizens Police Academy meets one evening a month. Topics include domestic violence, motor vehicle law enforcement, use of force, drug investigations, crime prevention and constitutional law. Students are given the opportunity to test the breathalyzer and a tour of the local Correctional Facility is arranged as a field trip. A ride-along with one of the officers has been a highlight of the program.
